Hello to all! This blog is my first and hopefully not my last! I love
to workout and I've always grown up in a family eating healthy. So I
thought, "What the heck! I'll write about what I know!" So it begins;
Health and Fitness. First I will tell you about myself, give you a
little history, and then I will dive in to what I want this blog to
focus on!
So for starters, I am 17 years old. I am
still in high school and I love sports. Mostly football! Growing up, I
always swam competitively and had a lot of fun with that! When I was 15 I
got an unknown injury to my shoulder which never quite healed. So last
year I quit swimming and picked up football! I put on about 25lbs and
played Defensive End and tight End. Immediately I was hooked! I love the
game, that's about all there is to it! Being homeschooled made finding
an outlet for sports rather difficult. However, I have had the luxury of
playing for a local private school! I was born in Dallas but grew up
here in Austin. I am one of six kids! I have two younger siblings, both
adopted (six weeks apart!) and 3 older siblings. My oldest sister has 3
kids and lives with her husband overseas. My older brother has one
daughter and lives here in town! My other older sister still lives here
with us and has her own photography business and works as a swim
instructor. My mom has homeschooled all of us and is doing the same with
my younger siblings. My dad is a chiropractor (And yes, that comes in
handy!) So that is me and my family! Now, on to the blog!
Growing
up I was always on swim team. I had some good times and even got to
swim at the Lee and Joe Jamail University of Texas Swim Center a few
times! The thing about swimming is it is an individual sport. There is
no concept of team! That aspect of the sport was hard for me because I,
like many Americans, am not self motivated! So it was quite a shock
switching to football which is 100% team oriented! With swimming I could take a rep off, or sit out a lap to catch my breath. But with football you can't do that, you have the next guy counting
on you! It was a whole new mindset that forced me out of my lazy habits!
It was, believe it or not, for the best! I've grown to love pushing
myself more. Working out. Playing Hard. After last year's season I got
very sick; I lost 60lbs in 6 weeks. That is a story for another time
though! Since then I have been forced to learn a lot about health and
fitness (hence the name of this blog) to try and heal my body and regain
my strength. So essentially this blog is to share what I've learned
about working out and eating healthy and the different aspects of each
of those combined.
I hope what I know can help anyone
who reads this! Ill be posting as often as I can and hopefully some of
this information will get out there and be of use to viewers!
